Jumping on the Bandwagon, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Blog

“Jack of all trades, master of none”
This cringe-tastic cliché-of-the-day is going to be the jumping board for my virgin blog post. You see, I’ve been thinking of starting a blog for a while now. But what exactly shall I bloggle on about?

In a land of social-media-monsters, where we are constantly updated on the mundane daily thoughts of friend-of-a-friends, the blog-o-sphere is a place of refuge from this overload of puffed-up profiles and tedious tweets. In this not-so-distant galaxy, the mindless musings are drastically improved in a single sense – they have a theme!

We’ve got foodie blogs and fashion blogs, trader blogs and travel blogs, blogs about dogs, blogs about cats, blogs about hats; one blog, two blog, red blog, blue blog. You get the point.

Most people blog about something. Not I. I the rogue blogophyte shall blog about nothing. The thing is, I am interested in everything, but an expert on nothing. So while the sporty-experts write sporty-blogs and the artsy-experts write artsy-blogs, I the timeless nothing-expert shall proudly present my nothing-blog. It is not an original concept, this idea of making something about nothing. In fact, two guys called Jerry and Larry did rather well with this premise in the 90s. You may have heard of them.

And, WHY, you ask, should anyone be interested in reading about nothing? Well, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea. I can only hope that sometimes this blog might make you laugh, sometimes it might make you think, and when all else fails, at least it will make you feel a little better about yourself knowing that there is someone out there less cool than you are.
